Since being honored with the Willie Morris Award for Secret Keepers five years ago, I’ve had the pleasure of serving as a judge for this annual prize.

The winner of the this year’s Willie Morris Award for Southern Fiction is… Long Man by Amy Greene (Alfred A. Knopf).

Long Man is set in eastern Tennessee in 1936, where the TVA has dammed a river to create a lake that will bring cheap electricity and jobs to a poor region.  It’s a terrific novel, and I’m looking forward  the reception honoring Amy Greene and Long Man October 26, 2015 in New York City.
