Mindy’s second novel, Secret Keepers, was published by St. Martin’s Press in 2009. 
Picador published the paperback in 2010. Secret Keepers is set in a small Southern town — a land of neglected Confederate Monuments, faith-based shopping centers, and overgrown, seedy estates — where a once-grand heirloom garden is covertly rescued, revealing a divided family’s secret lives of turmoil and yearning.
An excerpt from SECRET KEEPERS:
The town had moved the Confederate monument from the square to the gates of Springforth Cemetery some twenty years after the War of Northern Aggression, and General Robert E. Lee — who stood atop the mossy marble with a scowl — had never quite recovered. The general was listing, slowly sinking in the boggy soil, his finger pointing no longer at the ghostly
